Reggae music developed over many years to become what we know as reggae today. Reggae is a music that originally comes from Jamaica this is also a music that is widely potreade as a music of revolution ,freedom, politics and spirituality it developed from Jamaican folk music which was a very acoustic and simple sounding music usually consisting of lyrics that represented daily life and the struggle of life furthermore it was a music made to emotionally free you from mental oreson thou it's simple sound and the context and content of it's lyrics. After it developed into Caribbean Mento which is a musicly richer version of folc as it contains more instruments like gitures but in essence it is almost the same too the one that it succeeded. After that came Ska music which was a very fast music style as it was made predominantly to dance to and express oneself thou dance inaditon to this it was far more layered then the two music styles that preceded it and was more about happiness and joy and to forget the bad times and look forward in good faith and happiness. Out of this fast music developed a slower style called Rocksteady which was slower and utilized the guitar more than all the previous styles which made it more haveryer in tone, in the same time lovers rock appeared which was a slower version of both ska and rocksteady as it was meant to benaced to with a partner and be calm and soothing to the lisner and or lisners. During this time out of all the music styles developed the reggae developed and out of it stars like inner circle and bob marley however at the hart of this music is the Rastafarian religion and poverty and the constant want of freedom and unity especially during the times of great unrest in Jamaica and also racial tensions in the uk (riots of the 1980s UK), reggae during this time also became a voice of the people especially on the island that birthed it.
